The Pastry Arts Certificate is designed to prepare the student for a career in baking and pastry arts. Chefs specialize in breads, tortes or wedding cake design. Employment opportunities exist in private clubs, fine dining restaurants, food markets or as an entrepreneur.
Specialized courses include plated desserts, cake decorating, chocolate candy making, and sugar artistry. Some students combine certification with their Culinary Arts Degree to enhance their skill and employment prospects.

Students who want to take the next step in exploring their culinary career, attend one of the virtual or in person orientation sessions below.
Students are required to attend an informal virtual orientation to learn about the program requirements and scheduling prior to taking CUL-1011. The session lasts for approximately 1 hour. CUL-1010 may be taken before the virtual orientation.

Maximize your OCC-applicable credits upon transfer. Plan early and work with an OCC Counselor throughout your OCC experience. If you pursue an associate in applied science, you
may satisfy the Michigan Transfer Agreement by taking as few as four additional courses. Save time, money and aggravation!
