Hispanic Heritage Month
Oakland Community College proudly joins in celebrating national Hispanic Heritage
Month, Sept. 15–Oct. 15, 2026. This year’s theme, Together We Are More, pays tribute
to community strength, shared values and the collective impact of Hispanic and Latino
Americans.
While events are planned throughout the month, we continue the celebration throughout
the Fall semester with programs and college-wide engagement.
Kristina Marshall, OCC Director of Institutional Standards and Practices, said Together
We Are More reminds us that our strength does not come from being the same—it comes
from who we are as individuals.
“Hispanic Heritage Month is a time to honor the histories, cultures, traditions, voices
and contributions that continue to shape our communities,” said Marshall. “At OCC,
we celebrate the opportunity to learn from one another, build connections and create
a community where every person’s story has value. When we come together with respect,
openness, and a willingness to listen to one another, we create something stronger
than any of us could create alone.”
Celebrate & Build Community
Engage in learning and celebration that reflect the strength and unity of our collective
heritage—today and for the future.
Students, employees and our community are invited to these Hispanic Heritage Month
events sponsored by OCC’s Institutional Standards and Practices Department in partnership with the Spanish Department, Spanish Reconnect Student Club, Global Education, IMPACT Committees and WISE Owl Advisory Committee.
