HVAC/R Systems Technology

Heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC/R) technicians install and maintain these complex systems. Learning By Doing
In this program, you learn using a hands-on approach. You study principles and theory in the classroom, and then you immediately apply those skills in a lab setting. This method ensures you’re ready for work right after completing your HVAC/R education.

Choose from these program options:
Associate Degree
Learn everything you need to know about HVAC/R with the 64-credit Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree, which can be completed by full-time students in five semesters (two-and-a-half years). Learn more:
Certificates
If the degree path isn’t for you, consider earning a certificate. We offer three, and they can be completed by part-time students in four semesters (two years). Specialize in heating, air conditioning, or refrigeration:
- Heating Certificate (28 credits)
- Air Conditioning Certificate (31 credits)
- Refrigeration Certificate (29 credits)
You can also earn a certificate and then proceed toward the degree. For more information, contact Robert Featherstone, the program director.
Certifications
Your education prepares you to earn up to 20 national certifications, including industry-leading credentials from Trane, HVAC Excellence (ESCO Institute), and North American Technician Excellence (NATE). These certifications increase your personal marketability and show off your skills.
