Peer-Mentoring Program
The Peer Mentoring Program is designed to provide a connection for first-year, transfer, and select-program (Promise Zone) students in their transition to the Oakland Community College community. Mentoring relationships are complemented by a series of skill-building activities, social events, and special opportunities to add balance and support to the first-year college experience.
What began as a pandemic era effort to reach high school students has grown into a semester long program that builds real community at Oakland Community College. Mentor and mentee pairs often form 'quads' that grow into lasting friend groups, meeting for study sessions, outings and check-ins long after the semester ends.

Goals
- Identify and implement specific networking activities among peer mentors and mentees.
- Provide support and resources to help students adjust academically and socially to the campus community.
