Title IX
Oakland Community College is committed to providing our community an inclusive and welcoming educational and working environment for all. Consistent with these values and applicable law, OCC maintains a comprehensive program designed to protect members of the College community from sexual misconduct, including sexual harassment and sexual assault, stalking, and dating violence.
What is Title IX?
Title IX is a federal law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in educational institutions that receive federal funding. Title IX applies to all students, faculty, and staff in the United States who are:
- employed by, attending, or affiliated with OCC;
- participating in, or attempting to participate in any OCC program or activity; and/or
- visiting OCC’s campuses or any property owned or leased by OCC.

Training for Students
We encourage students to go through the Title IX training offered below, if you have not yet done so to further your understanding of Title IX.

Title IX Personnel Training
Under the new Title IX regulations, the Title IX Coordinator, as well as any investigator, facilitator of informal resolutions, hearing officer, or appeals officer must have certain required training, and must make the training materials publicly available.
Victim Rights
Oakland Community College is dedicated to protecting and preserving the rights of crime victims. We are sensitive to the needs of all victims and will strive to provide assistance, access to vital information, resources and additional services.
Pursuant to Federal Title IX regulations, The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act and the Michigan Crime Victim’s Rights Act, the Department of Public Safety will not impede, to any alleged victim of any crime of violence, the results of any disciplinary proceeding conducted by the College against the perpetrator of the crime directly related to the victim. The College will aid and assist any victim in pursuing information for which they are entitled under the law.
Victim Rights Policy:
It is the policy of the Oakland Community College Department of Public Safety to comply with Title IX, FERPA regulations, and the Michigan Crime Victim’s Rights Act, PA 87 of 1985 (MCL 780.751).
Pursuant to Title IX and FERPA regulations, the Department of Public Safety will not impede any alleged victim of any crime of violence from obtaining the results of any disciplinary proceeding conducted by the college against the perpetrator of the crime directly related to the victim. Any victim requesting information related to their complaint shall be referred to the Title IX Coordinator.
Reporting Prohibited Behavior
Members of the College community who believe that a Title IX violation may have occurred, should report their concerns and/or file a report with the College Title IX Coordinator.
