Apply for Short-Term Training

Training can be paid out-of-pocket. Accepted forms of payment are debit or credit card.

Prior to the start of the program, you will need to complete an online application and authorization to initiate the process. Steps will be sent to you by the program coordinator. The amount needs to be paid in full prior to the training start date. The forms and payment should be completed by the application deadline. The cost of the program is non-refundable. Connect with the program coordinator to initiate the process. 

Installment payment plans might be available, depending on the program. If you're interested, details can be discussed with the program coordinator. Please note that these training programs are 14-weeks or less. Given the nature of this being short-term, the amount needs to be paid in full before the training program ends. 

Employers want to see their employees succeed and continue to grow! Many companies are willing to help pay for current employees to go through training.

Many small, mid-sized, and large businesses offer some form of tuition assistance or reimbursement. Check with your employer for details. 

The Mike Rowe Works Foundation provides scholarship funding for select short-term programs. Their application requires:

• A short video introduction of yourself
• Signing the S.W.E.A.T. pledge and answering four short questions related to it
• Submitting two references
• Copy of your most recent transcript (high school or college)
• Copy of the tuition bill

Typically, OCC invoices are created once a training program is about to start. For purposes of this scholarship, connect with your program coordinator for details about the bill/cost statement. 

Mike Rowe scholarships are awarded four times a year for select training topics. Please note that their application deadlines might not directly align with the OCC training start dates. Therefore, it is best to start the scholarship application process well in advance of the training program start date.

We have partnered with Oakland County Michigan Works! to offer this training to qualified candidates. 

Specific funding levels vary by individual. Your Michigan Works! advisor will help determine your exact funding level that you'll qualify for.
