Program Description
Digital Content Developer Technician students will gain logical and rhetorical skills, effective writing skills, IT fundamentals, and multiple language coding skills for entry-level roles in the workplace. Key modules will include Fundamentals of Python and Swift Languages along with CompTIA Tech+, Intro and Ethics in AI, Principles of Digital Marketing and Creative Writing. Students will create a digital portfolio to demonstrate proof of skills. DCDT students can utilize their newly acquired skills independently as an app developer, writer, or contractor or as part of a corporate team focused on app development, digital marketing, quality assurance, data analysis, and more. Upon successful completion students may earn the CompTIA Tech+, PCAP™ - Certified Associate Python Programmer, and App Development with Swift – Associate certificates along with a Certificate of Completion from OCC.

Module Descriptions
CompTIA Tech+ – 56 hours
Students will gain the knowledge and skills required to identify and explain the basics
of computing, IT infrastructure, software development and database use. This module
also covers the basics of software installation, network connectivity and identification/prevention
of security risks.
Fundamentals of Python – 64 hours
This module will cover the basic elements of Python coding language including Values
and Variables, Algorithms, Organizing Data, Applications, Advanced Conditionals, Modules
& File Handling, Object-Oriented Programming, and Web Scraping and Data Analysis.
Students will have an opportunity to develop a variety of code projects, design multiple
apps, and build a formal portfolio of work.
Fundamentals of Swift (iOS) – 56 hours
This module will cover the basic elements of Swift coding language including Values,
Algorithms, Organizing Data, Building Apps, Running and Debugging an App, and Navigation
and Workflows.
Introduction to and Ethics in Artificial Intelligence (AI) – 40 hours
In this module students will hear about and discuss possible ethical quandaries resulting
from AI, our role within those AI scenarios, and the impact AI may have on fields
like marketing, computer science, coding, art, etc. Units covered in this course will
include: Importance of AI & How It’s Affecting You, History of Artificial Intelligence
& Ethics, Case Studies, along with Review, Reflection, & Presentation.
Principles of Digital Marketing – 40 hours
Students will learn about the different types of marketing, social media platforms,
effective tactics to obtain sales, monitoring and measuring analytics, website design
and ways to maximize viewership through SEO settings.
Writing for Business, Persuasion, and Creativity – 16 hours
Content for this module will address how to convey one’s perspective in three main
instances: as a means to track intent in business operations, as a means to persuade
in any setting, and as a way to pursue one’s creative aims. Key skills covered will
include writing in business, persuasive, and creative modes, identifying themes, arguments,
and logic in written form, how to track logical arguments and rhetorical techniques,
and more.
Additional Program Content
Career Readiness – 16 hours
Students will be provided with resources and tools to be successful in the labor market.
Personal branding, including resume and interview skills, will be addressed with the
assistance of a career coach. Students will learn how to utilize LinkedIn as part
of the job search process.
Employer Engagement – Varies
Students will gain greater understanding of the technology and marketing industries
through employer interactions such as on-site guest speakers and Interview Day.
