Big or Small, Talk About It

Talk with an OCC counselor. Whether it feels like a big mess or a little hiccup, getting another perspective helps. We talk it over with students who are working to resolve challenges like:

  • Stress
  • Relationship trouble
  • Negative thinking
  • Life and school colliding
  • Just not sure what the next step is

We care about you and we know about OCC and other resources. You’re always in charge of the process. Let’s figure it out together.

Everyone Has Mental Health

Your mental health is part of your health. Your thoughts, habits, emotions, and behaviors contribute to your overall well-being, just as your biceps and lungs do.

Getting counseling for your mental health means you recognize that your mental, emotional, or behavioral life could work better than it does now.

I Want to Help My Friend

We love that about you. Friendships matter a lot to our mental health and resilience. You can talk to an OCC Counselor to develop strategies to help your friend. You can also start with these sites:

Counselor or Advisor?

FWIW, the professionals who help students come in two flavors at OCC:

  • Advisor: Helps you pick classes and move smoothly toward your finish line.
  • Counselor: Helps you identify and resolve the challenges that are getting in your way.
You don’t need to get it right. Talk to either an advisor or counselor. Either one can help you select your next step.
